Hello friends and happy September!

I always get super excited when it’s a new month, because I feel like it signifies new beginnings. However for some reason September always seems extra special.

Kids go back to school, people settle back into their normal routines, and there’s always a little push to get some extra things done before the year is over.

Plus, the weatherΒ is pretty much perfect: not too hot, not too cold πŸ˜‰

But this September I’m finding myself needing to get back into the swing of things a little more than in past years; not so much from a summer of BBQs and beach days and parties, but from a summer of busting my butt.

As some of you may or may not know, after attending BlogFest in July I made the decision to leave the security of my “job-job”. This is A) exciting and B) terrifying.

In the months since, I have really noticed my self care practice pretty much disappear. In an attempt to be totally transparent and hold myself accountable, I decided to Vlog my tales of not eating vegetables, and sometimes not eating anything (who AM I?!).

In summary for those who are unable to (or don’t want to πŸ˜‰ ) watch the video, I’m making a commitment to take better care of myself this month, and I want you to join me!

#freshstartseptember

Through our free and private Facebook group #FreshStartSeptember I’ll be sharing daily exercises to incorporate into your routine, and we’ll all hold one another accountable as we work to implement a new healthy habit each week. Habit suggestions provided πŸ˜‰

This is open to anyone, regardless of your fitness level and current place in your fitness journey. My goalΒ is that we can all learn a few things about taking better care of ourselves, and have fun and make connections while doing it.

Interested in joining us? Search #FreshStartSeptember on Facebook or leave a comment below letting me know you’d like to join and I’ll be sure to add you!

The group is open now but we won’t officially begin until Friday – yup, you’re going to have to pick a new healthy habit and implement it at the start of a weekend! πŸ˜‰

So friends, I’d like to know: what clues let you know taking care of yourself has slipped away? How do you get back on track?

I can imagine!! I go crazy for carbs even when I’m running shorter distances…I can’t imagine what a carb monster I’d be with the longer ones! Haha.

This sounds like a lot of fun, Ariana! πŸ˜€ I’d love to be a part of it! (I will participate as much as I can, but may take periodic rain checks because of scheduling catastrophes, interviews, and med school in general. x_x )

Aw, I’m sorry you have been so stressed and busy, but good for you for recognizing the signs and working on getting back on track.

I don’t usually take too much time off from working out, but I can tell that I’m not eating great when I start to feel draggy, so I just adjust and add in more fruits and veggies and go from there.

Those are great ways to get back on track! I think for us fitness aficionados the exercise is the easy part – it’s the nutrition that tends to fall to the wayside! It’s amazing how a couple of days of eating well can make you feel though πŸ˜€

I really need to get back on track with my food. Idk why I do this, but I bought cookies on my shopping trip the other day and ended up eating over 10 of them. UGHHHHH. Ihave a major sweet tooth problem and I Felt so guilty after eating them but whatever. Point being, I need to be healthier as I continue to marathon train!

Yes, during a marathon your body deserves the best food! But maybe a cookie here and there too πŸ˜‰ But I feel you on the sweet tooth. It can be so hard to stop once you’ve started! But you’ve got this!!
