I’ve got something delicious for you today 😀

Remember last week when I went to the Canadian Health Food Association’s trade show? While I was there I got to try out some amazing products and I came home with more snack bars and drinks and chips than I knew what to do with!

One thing I couldn’t wait to dig into was the Natura Cappuccino Soy Beverage. I’m not usually a big soy milk drinker – I save it for the occasional latte at Starbucks, but beyond that I mostly stick to almond milk.

However, if you know me you know I love my coffee 😉 And when the girls at the Natura booth were nice enough to offer me a carton of cofffee-flavoured milk I couldn’t say no! The wheels in this brain of mine were immediately spinning with all the amazing smoothie opportunities.

Natura Soy Beverages are organic, gluten-free, and non-GMO. In addition to the original, they have six different flavours, with the ingredients list being comparable to most non-dairy milks you can buy at the grocery store.

Soy milk also has a good chunk of protein, so it’s a great addition to smoothies if you struggle to hit your protein requirements.

The flavoured varieties can be higher on the sugar side, so that’s definitely something you’ll want to be mindful of. As delicious as the Cappuccino is, I wouldn’t recommend drinking multiple cups of it each day.

However, the combination of protein and sugar make it a fantastic post-workout option, which is exactly what I used it for yesterday!

After a brutal spin class that had me feeling like I was going to puke (this is supposed to be my de-load week!!) I was feeling famished but also a little queasy. I needed something that would give me the fuel I needed but didn’t require much from my body in terms of processing 😛

ENTER THE POST-WORKOUT COFFEE FRAPP!

The simple sugars were perfect for feeding my shaky muscles that wanted nothing more than to lie down. And the protein helped those muscles repair and get stronger so next time those short hard hill climbs and max effort watts will be easy. Right???

Like I said above, because of the sugar content this isn’t a smoothie I would make in the morning to bring to work. But it’s a fantastic recovery drink, and a much better-for-you option than conventional coffee shop frappuccinos if you really just have a hankering for one.

Post-Workout Coffee Frapp

You Will Need: 

  • 1 cup Natura Cappuccino Soy Beverage
  • 1/2 frozen banana, or 1/2 regular banana and handful of ice
  • 2 big spoonfuls plain greek yogurt (approximately 1/4 cup)
  • Dash of cinnamon (great for reducing post-working inflammation)

Directions: 

1. Dump it all in a blender, blend on high for 30 seconds and enjoy!

    Yeahhhh soy milk! <3! I love recipes that are super easy to make, and this definitely sounds like it'd be an awesome post-workout drink!

      Are you a soy milk fan? Have you had this brand before? This definitely falls into the “easy to make” category…sometimes I like to come up with complex smoothies, but most of the time I’m just lazy 😉
