Reconciliation and workplace well-being

“Regardless of ancestry, we are all colonized people.”

- Nikki Sanchez, “Decolonization is for Everyone” TED Talk

We’re at a turning point in society where we are being called towards truth, reconciliation, justice, equity, diversity, and change.

This journey can feel overwhelming and dizzying. There’s so much work to do…where does one even begin?

The conversations surrounding reconciliation, decolonization, and social justice are big and have the potential to be uncomfortable. Disengaging, shutting down, and feeling frozen in fear—”what if I do or say the wrong thing?”—are all common responses to this work.

If your organization is ready to deepen your reconciliation journey and to stay engaged, grounded, and resourced during the process, Vanessa Lesperance of The Mindful Managers and I can help.

Our workshops support organizations who are ready to deepen into the reconciliation journey, either by providing educational opportunities for their non-Indigenous team members, or providing culturally-appropriate and decolonized wellness offerings for their Indigenous team members.

Our Reconciliation and Well-Being series and Indigenous Well-Being series allows folks to connect with themselves and their colleagues, and offers tools for holistic well-being—mind, body, emotion, and spirit—to equip them on their reconciliation journey.

Our Reconciliation and Well-Being series brings teams weekly or bi-weekly for five sessions that are rooted in reconciliation and facilitated through a decolonial lens. Topics covered include:

  • Understanding the history of colonization in so-called Canada

  • Connecting to place and story through authentic land acknowledgments

  • Increasing nervous system capacity for greater resiliency and adaptability to change

  • Mindfulness-based tools that can easily be done at one’s desk to support personal and collective well-being

  • ReconciliACTION and TRC’s Call to Action #92

  • Understanding the impacts of intergenerational trauma on both Indigenous and non-Indigenous team members and how it impacts the workplace

Workshops are two hours long, delivered virtually, and are designed to foster a brave, inclusive, and safe space to explore the reconciliation journey.

Our Indigenous Well-Being series hosts a number of different well-being workshops to choose from, all of them rooted in Indigenous values and knowledge systems.

If you’re interested in hiring us to facilitate an experience for your organization, please fill out the form below and I’ll be in touch within 5 business days to book an exploratory meeting with myself and/or Vanessa.
